Canada just announced big changes to help more international doctors get permanent residence through the Express Entry system. IRCC has introduced a new category called Physicians with Canadian work experience.
To qualify, doctors need at least one year of recent Canadian work in a single eligible occupation. The category covers family physicians, surgeons, and specialists under specific NOC codes. Canada is also reserving 5,000 permanent residence spots for provinces to nominate licensed doctors with job offers.
Plus, nominated physicians will get expedited work permit processing in about 14 days. These steps aim to bring more qualified doctors into the healthcare system and speed up their move to Canada.
