A coalition of organizations has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over a surprise $100,000 fee for H-1B visas, calling it unconstitutional and harmful to the U.S. economy.
The case, filed in a California federal court, argues that President Trump exceeded his authority by imposing the massive fee without Congress’s approval. Groups like the United Auto Workers and Global Nurse Force say the policy will worsen shortages of skilled workers, nurses, and teachers.
The White House defended the move, saying it prevents companies from abusing the visa system. The court will now decide whether to block the controversial H-1B visa fee while the case proceeds.
