IRCC Issues 4,000 CEC Invitations in Second Express Entry Draw of the Week
Canada
#workvisa
#skilledworkers
IRCC invited 4,000 candidates in a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw. The minimum CRS score was 521. This was the second draw of the week, following a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw on February 4.
In 2025, most invitations will target CEC, PNP, and category-based selection candidates. Express Entry manages federal immigration streams, while PNPs focus on regional needs.
Enhanced PNPs give candidates extra CRS points, boosting their chances. IRCC aims to welcome over 124,000 new permanent residents in 2025. Recent draws show a focus on in-Canada applicants, healthcare, trades, and French-speaking candidates.

Tories Plan to Bar Benefit-Claiming Migrants from UK Settlement
United Kingdom
#workvisa
#citizenship
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch announced plans to block migrants on work visas from settling in the UK if they claim benefits. She wants to extend the wait for indefinite leave to remain (ILR) from five to ten years. Migrants must prove they are net contributors and have no criminal records.
The Conservatives also propose delaying citizenship eligibility to 15 years after ILR. Badenoch argues current rules create a “conveyor belt” to citizenship. The government aims to amend its immigration bill to enforce these changes. The move responds to voter concerns and the rise of Reform UK’s hardline stance.

The UK Conservative Party is tightening immigration rules after Reform UK topped a poll. Leader Kemi Badenoch announced plans to double the time required for indefinite leave to remain from five to 10 years.
New conditions include no benefits, social housing use, criminal record, or proof of financial contribution. Badenoch criticized Labour's immigration policies as ineffective. The announcement follows a Sky News/YouGov poll showing Reform UK leading with 25%.
The Conservatives polled 21%, trailing behind Labour. Badenoch’s approval ratings have dropped, while Nigel Farage’s have improved. Labour defended its immigration stance, citing stronger enforcement efforts.
