Good news for those applying to visit, work, or study in Canada, IRCC will now provide more detailed refusal reasons. Starting 29 July 2025, select applicants will receive officer decision notes along with their refusal letters.
These notes are currently for temporary resident applications, such as visitor visas, study permits, and work permits. If you applied through the new IRCC Portal, you won’t get these notes just yet. Want even more info?
You can still request your GCMS notes through an ATIP request. These give the most detailed look into your case. It’s a small change, but one that makes Canada’s immigration process feel a little more transparent.
