New Zealand has launched its Business Investor Work Visa, opening doors for global investors and entrepreneurs to gain residency through business investment. Starting 24 November 2025, applicants can choose between investing NZD $1 million for a 3-year work-to-residence route or NZD $2 million for a fast-tracked 12-month pathway.
The visa targets experienced business owners investing in companies that have been operating for over five years. It also covers partners and dependents. However, sectors like fast food, gambling, and drop-shipping are off-limits.
To qualify for residency in New Zealand, investors must stay active in managing their businesses, create local jobs, and spend significant time in the country, showing commitment beyond capital.
