New Zealand is rolling out two new work visas this December to boost sectors like agriculture, forestry, and tourism. Immigration Minister Erica Stanford says the Global Workforce Seasonal Visa offers skilled seasonal workers like winemakers or chairlift operators a three-year stay with multiple entries, as long as they spend three months overseas each year.
The Peak Seasonal Visa gives lower-skilled workers up to seven months in roles like calf-rearing or seafood processing, with a four-month break before renewal. The visas aim to fill labour gaps when locals aren’t available, replacing last year’s Specific Purpose Work Visa. Applications open 8 December 2025 under the Accredited Employer Work Visa framework.
