New Zealand’s revamped ‘golden visa’ scheme is drawing serious attention, especially from wealthy U.S. investors. Since April, when the government eased rules for the Active Investor Plus visa, lowering the investment threshold from NZ$15 million to NZ$5 million and scrapping the English language requirement, 189 applications have been received, including 85 from Americans.
Immigration Minister Erica Stanford said the new settings could bring in over NZ$845 million in potential investments. The move aims to boost New Zealand’s economy, which recently exited a technical recession. With fast-growing interest from the U.S., China, and Hong Kong, New Zealand seems well on its way to becoming a hotspot for high-net-worth migrant investors.
