NZ Woman and Son Freed After US Immigration Detention

A New Zealand woman, Sarah Shaw, and her six-year-old son have finally been released after spending more than three weeks in a US immigration detention center. Shaw, 33, was detained while re-entering the US from Canada despite holding a visa combo card.

She later discovered that only part of her visa had been approved. Friends described the ordeal as “terrifying,” saying Shaw thought she was being kidnapped when officials took her and her son away in an unmarked van.

Held in Texas, far from her Washington home, the pair endured strict conditions. Now back home, the family is taking time to recover. What’s your take on how immigration laws are being enforced?
