Philippines Opens Doors to Digital Nomads with New Visa Program

President Marcos just signed Executive Order No. 86, officially allowing foreigners to work remotely from the Philippines. The new Digital Nomad Visa (DNV) lets non-immigrant foreigners stay for up to a year, with the option to renew.

Applicants must be 18+, show proof of remote work and income, have clean criminal records, and carry health insurance. The goal is to boost tourism and the economy. The DFA will issue the visas and keep track of holders while protecting their privacy.

Other countries like Thailand and Japan already have similar programs. The government agencies now have 30 days to roll out the final guidelines. Exciting times for remote workers!
