Portugal Extends Immigrant Document Validity and Tackles Pending Cases
United kingdom, United state
Portugal has extended the validity of immigrant documents and visas until June 30, 2025. The government also created a mission structure for the recovery of pending processes.
This will be managed by the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA). AIMA will address over 400,000 pending immigrant cases with up to 300 new hires.
Despite recent efforts, the agency still faces a significant backlog. In 2023, over one million internationals lived in Portugal, marking a 130% increase from 2022. The mission aims to resolve all pending cases by the summer of 2025.
