Rubio Pulls 6,000 Student Visas After Trump’s Security Review Order

The U.S. has revoked more than 6,000 student visas after President Donald Trump’s executive order to review immigration for “security risks.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the move, saying most visas were pulled because students broke U.S. laws, including thousands for assault and DUI cases.

Around 200 to 300 were revoked over alleged support for terrorism. The crackdown has hit students from countries like China the hardest, with Rubio promising “aggressive” reviews of Chinese visa holders. The State Department says nearly 40,000 visas have been revoked in 2025 so far, more than double the number under Biden. Critics argue the move unfairly targets foreign students.
