The Trump administration has revoked approximately 80,000 U.S. visas since January 2025 as part of a sweeping immigration enforcement push. According to State Department officials, thousands of revocations were linked to crimes such as DUI, assault, and theft.
The move comes alongside stricter visa vetting procedures and expanded social media screening. Over 6,000 student visas were also canceled for overstays, law violations, and alleged “support for terrorism.”
Critics say the crackdown targets political dissent, especially those voicing support for Palestinians or criticism of Israel. Supporters argue it strengthens national security, while opponents warn it threatens free speech and fairness in U.S. immigration policy.
