US Slashes Visa Validity for Ghanaians After Nigeria Clampdown

The U.S. has shortened visa durations for Ghanaian applicants, limiting most to single-entry visas valid for just three months. The changes affect student visas (F-1) and B-class visas for tourism and business, making it more difficult for frequent travelers.

Diplomatic (A-class) and K visas retain longer validity. This move follows similar restrictions recently placed on Nigerians and reflects updates to the U.S.’s global visa reciprocity policy. No specific reason was given for targeting Ghana.

The new rules will increase travel costs and add to the hassles of reapplication for students, tourists, and business visitors. Ghanaians are advised to check the U.S. Embassy website or consult immigration experts before making travel plans.
