The US State Department has rolled out a new rule for non-immigrant visa applications. Now, applicants must schedule their visa interview at the US Embassy or Consulate in their own country or country of residence, instead of applying anywhere worldwide.
The move aims to reduce long queues, streamline document checks, and enhance security. For example, Russians will now have to apply in Astana or Warsaw, while citizens of 16 other countries, including Ukraine and Belarus, face similar changes.
So, if you’re planning to apply for a US visa, double-check your embassy’s document list, book interview slots early, and prepare proof of residence or employment if required. Would this make your visa process easier or harder?
