USCIS is stepping up immigration checks, now screening applicants for signs of “anti-Americanism” and antisemitic activity. The policy, announced under the Trump administration, applies to all immigration applications, including family-based green cards, employment visas like H-1B, O-1, and L-1, and naturalization.

Officers will review social media and public records for ties to violence, extremist groups, or content that could be read as anti-American. While ordinary political opinions aren’t disqualifying, the rules are vague, leaving applicants uncertain.

Experts advise reviewing posts carefully and seeking legal guidance. This expanded screening means families and workers should be extra cautious when applying for visas, green cards, or U.S. citizenship.
