US Tightens Visa Rules: Social Media History Now Mandatory

Planning to apply for a US visa in 2025? You’ll now have to disclose all social media handles used over the past five years, according to new guidelines from the US Embassy in India. This rule applies to DS-160 visa applicants, especially those seeking F, M, or J category visas (students and exchange visitors).

The embassy warns that omitting social media info could lead to visa denial and future ineligibility. Applicants are even advised to set their profiles to public for vetting. This move aligns with a broader US immigration crackdown, emphasizing that visa screening is ongoing and any violation of US law could result in revoked visas or deportation.
