For the first time in half a century, the immigrant population in the US has dropped, falling by 1.4 million in just six months of 2025. Pew Research says 51.9 million immigrants now live in the US, down from 53.3 million when Donald Trump began his second term.
The decline comes as Trump pushes mass deportations, stricter visa rules, and tighter border control. DHS reports 332,000 deportations, while 1.6 million migrants left voluntarily. The State Department is also reviewing all active US visas for violations.
