Cyprus has launched a new pilot program, “Visitor Program Participation,” for third-country nationals seeking to study there. The initiative offers a temporary residence permit for those joining approved courses lasting over four months, outside traditional higher education.
It’s perfect for students who don’t qualify for a regular student visa. In its first year, only 200 permits will be issued, split between the Deputy Ministry of Shipping and the Department of Civil Aviation.
Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and can be filed with the Department of Immigration in Nicosia. Each permit costs €70, plus €70 for registration in the Aliens Registry.
