Canada has kicked off its new digital visa pilot program, starting with a small group of Moroccan nationals. These travelers will now receive a digital visa, in addition to the usual counterfoil.
The goal is to make the visa process faster and smoother. No more mailing passports or waiting for documents to return. IRCC will test how secure the digital visa is, how well airlines can verify it, and how users experience it.
This move is part of a broader plan to modernize Canada’s immigration services and reduce processing times. If the pilot works well, digital visas could soon become a standard option for millions of visitors.
