An opportunity for those who want employment in Canada is that they are welcoming 431,645 Permanent Residents under Immigration Levels Plan in 2022. It is the highest number of jobs that this country has ever offered.

Canada's Immigration Level Plan

In Feb 2022, the Canadian Government announced Immigration Levels Plan from 2022 to 2024. Under this plan, they have targeted to offer permanent residence to new immigrants in the following three years.

In 2022 - Targeted Permanent Residents: 431,645

In 2023 - Targeted Permanent Residents: 447,055

In 2024 - Targeted Permanent Residents: 451,000

Why Is Canada Offering This Massive Immigration Levels Plan?

The reason for launching Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024 is to support Canada's economy by hiring skilled people, reducing labour shortages, and offering an opportunity for family reunification. But not only this, but this plan will also incorporate their country's international obligations by settling refugees.

This plan is catering economic, family, humanitarian and refugee immigration classes. Indeed it is an excellent scheme for creating a balance between what is suitable for Canadians and what they offer to the world.

Canada Is Experiencing A Labour Deficit

There is an increasing labour shortage in various areas, according to the Labour Force Survey for May 2022. That is why there is a need for immigrants to fill vacancies immediately. According to a Statistics Canada report released on June 22, foreign workers have long been the country's primary source of labour.

According to the Survey of Employment, Payrolls, and Hours, in May 2022, 26,000 positions are no longer on the payroll. Ontario and Manitoba saw the most significant decline. Ontario now has 30,000 positions available, while Manitoba has 2,500 jobs.

Statistics Of Canada's Payroll Employment Losses

There are specific sectors in Canada where statistics of available vacancies are much higher.

According to the Payroll employment, earnings and hours, and job vacancies, May 2022 report, all construction industry sectors lost more than 17,500 jobs in May. Whereas, in the goods-producing sector it is 20,600.

Furthermore, industries that produce services, such as those in education, healthcare, and social support, have witnessed a significant decline in employment. According to the report, approximately 17,000 payroll jobs have been lost in these regions.

The two provinces with the most payroll employment losses were Ontario, where 30,000 jobs were lost, and Manitoba, where 2,500 positions were eliminated. However, only in British Columbia was an increase by 7000, which is the only province to do so.

Canada's Professional, Scientific And Technical Services Industry Showing Growth

The professional, scientific, and technical services industry was the only one to experience an increase, adding more than 10,000 jobs. At the same time, Ontario showed 0.8% and British Columbia a 1.1% increase.

Overall, these different statistics above demonstrate how much more immigration Canada needs on an urgent basis.

Final Words

Canada has made a perfect plan to cater to various needs of their land, also providing benefits to others. It is not like they launched the scheme only after seeing a shortage in different sectors. But they have always been very considerate regarding humanitarian crises and taking in refugees in their country.
