About

For brief tourism or business stays, nationals of the ETA-eligible or 45 eVisitor countries can apply for a Visitor Visa (SC600) in Australia. Subclass 600 includes many visitor visa categories based on the purpose of the visit and the applicant's nationality. The Australia Visitor Visa is valid for three, six, or twelve months. It can be used for single or multiple entries.

Depending upon the purpose of the visit, there are six streams of Visitor (Subclass 600) Visas;

Tourist Stream - When applying in Australia
Using this visa category, you can visit as a tourist, to visit family and friends, or for business or medical treatment. 

Tourist Stream - When applying outside Australia
This visa category lets you visit Australia as a tourist, on a cruise, or visit family and friends. 

Sponsored Family Stream
This visa stream allows people who are sponsored, generally by a family member, to visit their family members in Australia. 

Business Visitor Stream
It allows you to visit for business purposes.

Approved Destination Status Stream
This visa stream is for citizens from some regions of China visiting Australia on tour organised by an approved travel agent.

Frequent Traveller Stream
This visa category is for residents of China who frequently travel to Australia for business or pleasure.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible;

  • You should be a genuine visitor.
  • Enough funds for stay and whenever you want to leave.

DOCUMENTS

You need to include as much information as possible to support your application. It includes English translations of your documents. These documents should be scanned in colour. Thus making them more transparent and legible. The necessary documents may include:

  • Passport
  • Your recent picture with a white background.
  • The Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) form.
  • Health Insurance proof.
  • Letter from a school, employer or a family member settled in Australia.
  • Proof of accommodation.

PROCESS

You need to send all the required documents to apply for the visa. They will inform you if there is a need for biometric verification. If you didn't have health exams before applying for the visa, have them if we tell you to.

When to Apply
You may apply at least 15 to 30 days before travelling.

Visa Processing Time
Depending on your nationality and documents, it may take a few days or weeks.

The application process is online, and you also have to fill out the form and submit it to the Australian Immigration Office. Always seek professional advice before applying.

DURATION & FEES

Duration
It is a short-term visa. It allows you a stay of 3, 6, or even 12 months. You can stay for the duration or dates stated on the visa grant letter.

Fees
The visa costs AUD 145 for each applicant. You might also have to pay other costs for health checks, police certificates and biometrics.

  • Sponsored Family stream - Fee: 145 AUD 
  • Business Visitor stream - Fee: 145 AUD 
  • Approved Destination Status stream - Fee: 145 AUD 
  • Tourist stream (Apply in Australia) - Fee: 370 AUD 
  • Frequent Traveller stream - Fee: 1085 AUD 

EXTENSION

You can't stay in Australia longer by extending this visa. You must apply for another visa.
