About

Investor Visa (Subclass 891) is for people who undertake investment and business activities in Australia. It lets you stay indefinitely in Australia. The visa has a travel component which expires five years after the date on which the visa was granted. You become a permanent resident on the same day you receive this visa.

Entrepreneurs who want to continue their firm in Australia can apply for an Investor Visa (SC891), Business Innovation and Investment Visa. Moreover, you may also include family members in your visa application.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, you must:

  • have lived in Australia for two of the last four years 
  • have a Subclass 162 - Investor (Provisional) Visa 
  • have held an assigned investment of AUD 1.5 million for four years.

DOCUMENTS

To begin, you must have a Subclass 162 - Investor (Provisional) visa given to you because you met the essential criteria for that visa. You also need to have lived in the country for at least two years under a Subclass 162 Visa. The period of 2 years does not need to be continuous. You may need to gather the following documents before applying for this visa.

  • Identity documents, including passport and recently taken photographs.
  • Evidence of residence during the two years stay.
  • Proof of a designated investment of AUD 1.5 million during the past four years.
  • Legal documents of your relation with your partner, i.e., marriage certificate.
  • Documents for the rest of the family members.
  • Proof of functional English.

PROCESS

You must be in Australia when you apply for the visa. Your family members may be in or out of Australia, but they are not in immigration clearance. Before applying for this visa, you need to pay the application fee before submitting your application. Your application will be pending till you pay the fee.

When to Apply
You are eligible to apply after living in Australia for 2 of the past four years. The two year period does not have to be continuous.

Applications are reviewed based on an individual case. And actual processing time may differ due to the individual circumstances; these include:

  • Whether you have submitted a complete application with all required supporting documents  
  • How rapidly do you respond to requests for more information? 
  • How long does it take to get additional information from outside sources?

It is a permanent visa, so you can stay in Australia indefinitely. You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want for five years from when this visa begins.

Fees
Investor Visa (Subclass 891) fee for the main applicant costs AUD 2,495. There is also a charge for each family unit member who applies for the visa with you. You may also have to pay the second instalment of AUD 4,890 for 18 years or older family member who has less than functional English.

EXTENSION

You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want for five years from the date we grant this visa. You will require a Resident Return (RRV) Visa (Subclass 155 and 157) after five years to re-enter Australia as a permanent resident.
