About

Global Talent Visa (Subclass 858) is for those who have attained an internationally recognised record of outstanding and exceptional achievement in an eligible field. It is a permanent visa. Also, you can work and study in Australia and even sponsor your relatives to come to this country.

It can be further distinguished into two streamlines:

  • The streamlined Global Talent pathway is for highly skilled applicants who have attained an internationally recognised record of outstanding and exceptional achievements within the priority sectors. These sectors may include health, resources, digitech, energy, etc.
  • The Distinguished Talent pathway is for highly talented applicants with an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievements working in other sectors for either a profession, sport, arts, or academia and research.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible, you must:

  • be residing in or outside Australia but not in immigration clearance when you apply and when they grant this visa.
  • have international recognition of exceptional achievement in sports, art or academics.
  • have an Australian nominator with a national reputation in your area of talent.

DOCUMENTS

You will need to include documents to support the claims you make in your application and show you meet the visa criteria. It provides evidence of your achievements in an eligible field. Apart from that, the documents needed are given as follows:

  • Identity documents such as your photo, personal details, passport issue and expiry dates.
  • Evidence of your achievements.
  • Provide proof of sufficient funds and that you can work in your field of achievement.
  • Prove you have at least functional English.
  • Partner and other dependent's documents, if any.

PROCESS

You must be either inside or outside of Australia at the time of application for this visa. But you should not be in the immigration clearance.

When to Apply
The visa may even take months to process. So, at least apply a month before you want to move.

Visa Processing Time
The Global Talent Pathway visa is processed in 1-3 months. On the other hand, the Distinguished Talent pathway visa takes up to 8 months or more than a year.

Duration
With Global Talent Visa (Subclass 858), you can stay in Australia permanently, enrol in Australia's public health care scheme and travel in and outside Australia for five years. You may also apply for citizenship if eligible.

Fees
The visa costs AUD 4,180 for the main applicant. There is an extra charge for each family member who applies for the permit with you.

EXTENSION

There is no need for extension of this visa as it is permanent. But you may have to extend your travel permit, which expires after five years.
