Nigeria Offers Amnesty to Visa Overstayers - Here’s What You Need to Know

Got an expired visa in Nigeria? You’re in luck! The Nigerian government has rolled out a five-month amnesty program for all visa overstayers to regularise their status, no penalties involved.

Running from May 1 to September 30, 2025, the Expired Visa Initiative covers expired Visa on Arrival (VoA), Single-Entry or Multiple-Entry Visas, and CERPAC that are overdue by more than 30 days.

This move aims to strengthen the country’s migration system and avoid harsh crackdowns. If you’re affected, visit amnesty.immigration.gov.ng and resolve the issue before the deadline closes. Think this is a smart step? Or should Nigeria crack down harder on visa violations?
