UK employers are being urged to prep for a complete reset of the immigration visa system as new reforms roll out starting July 22. The government is raising the skill threshold for Skilled Worker visas to degree level (RQF 6), removing over 100 jobs, such as hospitality and junior IT roles, from the sponsorship list.
Salary thresholds are also rising, with most new skilled workers now required to earn at least £41,700. A temporary shortage list will allow limited access for some lower-skilled roles, but without benefits such as dependents or visa discounts. Employers must now reassess if their vacancies are still eligible for UK work sponsorship moving forward.
