For non-EU nationals who want to work there, Estonia offers a variety of work visas, including those for skilled employees, seasonal workers, entrepreneurs, and investors. These visas allow visitors to live and work in Estonia for a predetermined amount of time;

Type A
Airport transit visas are available to travellers travelling through airports in Schengen Area members that have international transit areas.

Type C
A short-term visa allows holders to spend no more than three months in the Schengen region in any 180-day period.

Type D
Long-stay visa that can be utilised for one or more entries for a total of up to 365 days.

Eligibility

You must fulfil the following requirements in order to apply for an Estonian work visa:

  • Before hiring you, your company or employer must register you with the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.
  • A legitimate employment contract is required.
  • For the desired job, you must meet the necessary qualifications. 
  • You must be in decent physical shape. 

Documents

The following records are necessary for an Estonian work visa:

  • A passport that is applicable for at least three months beyond the desired stay and has two blank pages.
  • Two recent colour passport-sized photos with a light backdrop.
  • Filled out and signed visa application.
  • A documented job offer from an employer in Estonia or a contract of employment.
  • Evidence of sufficient finances to meet living expenses during the visit to Estonia.
  • Evidence of accommodation arrangements in Estonia.
  • Valid health insurance policies in Estonia.

Process

If you are a non-citizen of the EU, EEA, or Switzerland and wish to work in Estonia, you must file for an Estonia work visa. Your family members are welcome to visit, work, study, and reside in Estonia with you.

Visa Processing Time
An Estonian work visa takes 30 days to process. However, because it depends on various circumstances, the processing time may be prolonged. For instance, it depends on your case, the political climate, or the timing of your application.

An Estonian work visa is valid for 365 days. After entering Estonia, you have to file for a temporary residency permit, which is valid for up to five years and is renewable if you want to stay longer. 

Fees
The work visa in Estonia can set you back 100 EUR. Cash or a credit card can be used to pay for the visa. When you deliver your paperwork to the embassy in your home country, you must pay for your visa application.
