France and UK Strike Landmark Migration and Defense Deals

During a high-profile visit to London, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer agreed on major migration and defense deals. A key highlight was the new “one in, one out” migration scheme, under which undocumented migrants arriving in the UK by small boats will be returned to France.

At the same time, Britain will take in legitimate asylum seekers with family ties. Starmer called it a “groundbreaking” move to deter illegal crossings. The leaders also pledged additional long-range Storm Shadow missiles for Ukraine and established a joint headquarters in Paris.

Macron pushed for UK-France recognition of a Palestinian state, calling it essential for Middle East peace and a two-state solution.
