UK May Cut Visas for Countries Refusing Asylum Returns

The UK could suspend visas for countries that refuse to take back rejected asylum seekers, Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood warned. Speaking after a Five Eyes meeting, she said she would move “further and faster” than her predecessor to curb irregular migration, including small boat crossings.

Mahmood stressed that nations “must play by the rules” and accept citizens with no right to remain in Britain. Countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal could be most affected due to high visa demand. Experts say the impact will depend on how far the UK goes with restrictions. Do you think cutting visas is the right way to push countries to cooperate?
