Over 300 South Korean workers detained in a US immigration raid at a Hyundai factory site in Georgia have been released and flown back home. The group, along with a few Chinese, Japanese, and Indonesian nationals, was held by ICE for alleged visa violations during a months-long labor probe.
The images of workers shackled sparked outrage in South Korea, with President Lee Jae-myung calling the raid “bewildering” and warning it could hurt future investments in the US.
He argued that without visas for skilled technicians, Korean companies may rethink building facilities in America. Despite Trump offering them a chance to stay, nearly all chose to return home.
