An agreement known as the Services Mobility Agreement has been made between the UK and Switzerland. According to this agreement, professionals from the UK can work in Switzerland for up to 90 days without a work permit. UK nationals don’t need a Swiss Visa to live in Switzerland.
This agreement directly benefits both the professionals from the UK and Switzerland. Switzerland professionals can deliver their contracts in the UK in highly skilled sectors via the Tier 5 International Agreement Visa.
The UK Service Industry welcomes this agreement extension and demands more than 80% of the UK GDP and workforce. This extension has started a new trade deal between the two superpowers.
After several meetings, both countries agreed to extend the Services Mobile Agreement. Due to this agreement, the companies in both countries have benefited a lot. This is just the beginning. I am delighted to launch negotiations on an ambitious and forward-looking trade deal with Switzerland, which will strengthen our already incredibly strong trade relationship, worth 39 billion GBP last year.’’
Furthermore, Rain Newton-Smith, Chief Economist at the Confederation of British Industry, said:
‘’UK businesses will welcome the extension of the Services Mobility Agreement, announced today by the Trade in Services Council. Since the services sector accounts for four out of every five employments in the UK, the chance to work in Switzerland is extremely advantageous for businesses doing business in the seventh-largest export destination for the UK. The companies hope it will provide crucial momentum as the UK and Switzerland prepare to negotiate an improved FTA.
The CBI’s co-chairmanship of the UK-Switzerland Bilateral Trade and Investment Council will offer businesses an important forum to consider ways to unlock more exciting new business opportunities with Switzerland.’’
