US Immigration Falls for First Time in 50 Years Under Trump

US immigration has dropped for the first time in five decades. According to Pew Research data, the immigrant population fell by 1.4 million in early 2025, now standing at 51.9 million. The drop comes after Trump’s tough immigration policies, mass deportations, and tighter border rules.

ICE has deported over 332,000 people, while 1.6 million left voluntarily. Arrests of illegal migrants, especially in sanctuary cities like New York and Los Angeles, have also surged.

Despite the fall, immigrants still make up 15.4% of the population and 19% of the workforce. Trump calls it a historic “negative net migration.” What do you think of these changes?
