About

Foreigners with familial connections in Brazil who wish to settle and stay in the country can apply for a Family Reunion Visa. Foreigners who are legal dependents of Brazilian citizens or foreign nationals who already have a permanent resident status visa in Brazil may be granted this visa temporarily or permanently.

The applicant may apply for this visa if married or in a relationship with a Brazilian citizen. It entitles the applicant to reside permanently in Bra

Eligibility

You are eligible for this visa if you are;

  • under the Brazilian legal system, without distinction, as a spouse or partner.
  • son or daughter of a Brazilian or an immigrant with a residence visa.
  • someone who has been given a residence permit for an immigrant son or daughter.
  • ascending to the second degree of a Brazilian or an immigrant with a Work Permit.

Documents

You must provide the following documents. 

  • Passport
  • A recent snapshot of your biometrics.
  • Certificate of Birth
  • A Police Clearance Certificate verifies that you have no criminal history.
  • Marriage certificate as proof of relationship with a Brazilian citizen.
  • The bank's financial statement.

Process

When to Apply
After gathering all the documents, you may apply for this visa. Generally, you are advised to apply a couple of months before you want to move. Moreover, look for the processing time and apply accordingly.

Visa Processing Time
The Family Reunion Visa takes about 15 working days to process. Furthermore, the processing time is not determined by the priority bases. But it may take longer depending on the documents' availability.

How to Apply
The application can be made both by mail or in person. You must fill out the application form, add documents and submit the fee. 

The fee is not acceptable in cash by the Embassy. Moreover, you can also hire a visa consultant to help you through it.
