About

You will need a Family Visa from the nearest Kuwaiti embassy if you intend to travel to Kuwait to join a family member who is employed there. The immediate family and any relatives living abroad who wish to travel to Kuwait to see their family members can apply for a Kuwait family visit visa.

Visas used to be only available for dependents, trade, and tourism purposes. However, the Residency Affairs Departments will also handle family visit arrangements for expatriates after recent Cabinet decisions lifted all coronavirus prohibitions.

Eligibility

You are eligible for a family visa to Kuwait if;

  • you have a relative working in Kuwait.
  • the one sponsoring the family member must have a minimum salary of 450 KD (Kuwaiti Dinar).
  • you must have proof of relationship with the sponsor.

Documents

The following are some of the documents that must be provided to obtain a visa for a family visit to Kuwait.

  • A copy of the visitor's passport that is at least six months old at the time of application.
  • One current photo with a white background that is the size of a passport.
  • Evidence of kinship. Please be aware that certificates given by the Department of the Embassy are not taken into account.
  • If the overseas provider or sponsor works from a computer or in the government sector, a recent salary certificate is required.
  • The civil ID of the sponsor, original and copy (or the family who resides in Kuwait).
  • Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

You may file for a family reunification visa if you meet the eligibility criteria. So, you must have a sponsor earning at least 367.69 KD a month. Moreover, look for the visa processing time before you go on with the application.
