Work Permit Qatar

About

A Work Permit and Permanent Residence Visa are necessary to work legally in Qatar. The employer acts as the worker's local sponsor and arranges all required meetings for the worker to obtain the visa and permission.

Because of the traditional sponsorship system, the hiring process in Qatar is significantly more complicated than in other nations. The traditional kafala sponsorship connects the employee to the employer. In employment matters, employers have far more influence over employees. The employees must get an exit visa and the employer's agreement before terminating their employment and leaving the country.

Furthermore, Qatarization gives Qatari workers the first preference in hiring. Meanwhile, non-Qatari workers can only be hired if the Labor Department approves it. Moreover, Work Permits are obtained, and they are hired if there is a demand for them. Before employing staff in Qatar, these things must be carefully considered.

Eligibility

You are eligible for a work permit if you;

  • can work in the relevant sector.
  • have a contract with an employer.

Documents

The following are the documents that an employer must provide to obtain a Work Permit.

  • Application form from the Ministry of Labor.
  • Contract of employment
  • Employee's medical certificate
  • A copy of the company's commercial registration.
  • The company's Immigration Card.
  • Two photographs of the employee (passport-sized).
  • A copy of the employee's passport is required.
  • Educationally relevant documents.
  • Test of biometric fingerprints.

Process

A Work Visa must be obtained within seven days of the employee's arrival in Qatar. It is usually only possible when an employment agreement has been reached. A medical certificate demonstrating the employee's health must be obtained before applying for a Work Permit.

Following the medical certificate issuance, an application for an employment and residence permit, valid for one, two, or three years, can be submitted.
