ABOUT

Founded in 1974, The Aalborg University is a public research university in Denmark. The idea for the University came as early as 1961. Still, it took that idea about 13 years to grow and take a material form. It is spread over three campuses in different cities, including Copenhagen, Esbjerg and Aalborg. The University offers studies in five faculties focusing on humanities, IT, Social sciences, engineering and medicine, etc.

Over the years, Aalborg University has grown to become a well-established teaching and research institution. It is synonymous with project work and problem-based learning. The pedagogical approach of the university ensures the advancement of specific competencies within problem-solving, in both practice and theory. The university encourages cooperation and interdisciplinarity across academic fields. This approach places great importance on the development of cooperation and international relations.

STUDENTS

Aalborg University is known for its high student enrollment. More than 20,000 students are a part of the University on different levels. These students are primarily Danish, but there are many international students. The university has a lot to offer when it comes to student life. It has active student associations and a vibrant study environment. There are many options for students' leisure time–everything from Friday bars to fitness. Students have a long list of student clubs and organizations to get involved in and get a chance to meet other students from the different semester and degree programs.

Student at Aalborg University spend their free time in different activities; some watch films in good old cinemas and other participate in voluntary or student political work. At AAU's cafes, huge part of students engages in voluntary work. All organizations at the university always encourage students to take the initiative or actively participate in any endeavours.
