ABOUT

The UC San Diego was established in 1960 as a public research university. It is the southernmost campus out of ten campuses of the University of California. This institute is ideally located on the U.S. Mexico border and Pacific Rim. University occupies 2178 acres near the coast of the Pacific Ocean, out of which the main campus rests at 1152 Acres. 

The University of California, San Diego, is widely acknowledged for its national influence, local impact, and global reach. UCSD is renowned for its diverse, collaborative, and cross-disciplinary ethos. This institute transcends traditional boundaries in arts, science, and humanities. 

UC San Diego is one of the U.S.'s most accomplished research institutes. It promotes sustainability and is the leader in climate science research. UC San Diego operated 19 research units and eight schools of medicine research units. It is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities", which have very high research activity. By the National Science Foundation report, UCSD spent 1.354 billion on research and development in 2019. 

UCSD consists of twelve undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools. This institute also has seven undergraduate colleges. It is the second most applied university in the U.S. In the fall of 2021, this university received 140,000 applications for undergraduate admissions. Also, UC San Diego has world-class faculty from all over the world.

STUDENTS

At UCSD academic community come from over 100 different countries. Most international students studying here are from China, India, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. But this institution accepts students from all over the world. The UC San Diego believes that people from different countries bring richness to the UC.

ACCOMMODATION

This amazing university has many accommodation options. They have seven undergraduate residential colleges. Each of them has separate housing. The housing types vary in design. Transferred students have a different facility.

Housing facilities made here are designed to meet all specific student's needs. First-year students are usually housed in residence halls. Upper-level students are accommodated in college apartments. Transfer students live in an area called The Village. Families and couples studying for an undergraduate degree can live in a separate section. This university also accommodates gender neutrals with a separate LGBT housing section. 

UC San Diego offers two years of confirmed housing for incoming and transfer students. Moreover, it intends to reach the capacity to provide guaranteed four-year housing.
