Student and Vocational Training Visa (M1 Visa) United States

About

Students who wish to pursue vocational studies in the United States must apply for an M1 Visa. Vocational studies include cooking classes, mechanical classes, aviation school and cosmetology.

Because an M1 Visa has no limit on the number of people who can apply, any student who fits the qualifications could be awarded a visa.

Eligibility

After being admitted by a school certified under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, a foreign student can apply for a Student or Exchange Visitor Visa (SEVP). The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) keeps track of students' records.

Documents

You are required to submit the following documents to apply for a Student and Vocational Training Visa.

  • A valid passport for another six months after your visa expires.
  • Letter confirming your visa appointment.
  • One photo for the US Visa.
  • Receipts showing that you have paid your fees.
  • One copy of your original I-20 form.
