Business Visa (B1) United States

About

The Business Visa (B1) is a non-immigrant US visa that allows people to enter the country for business.

The advantage of a B1 visa is that you can create business contacts and visit the United States as needed. You can apply for a new visa after your current one expires. Also, there is no limit on the number of Business Visas that can be issued in the United States.

Eligibility

You must meet the requirements listed below in order to be eligible.

  • The goal of your journey is to come to the United States for legitimate business purposes.
  • You intend to stay for a specified amount of time.
  • You have enough money to cover the costs of your stay in the United States.
  • You have a residency outside of the United States that you do not intend to relinquish, as well as other ties that will secure your return to your home country at the end of your visit.

Documents

You must provide the following documents.

  • The confirmation page with a code for Form DS-160.
  • A passport valid for a minimum of six months beyond your anticipated stay in the United States.
  • A letter outlining your journey's objective.
  • Bank statements or other financial documents proving that you have the funds to remain in the United States.
  • Proof of family ties, job contracts, leases, or property deeds that you will return to your home country.
  • Evidence of criminal records or authorities' statements that you have never been convicted of a crime.
  • A letter from your employer mentioning the purpose of your visit.

Process

If you meet requirements and can demonstrate your eligibility in the application phase with legitimate documentation, you will be able to apply and obtain Business Visa (B1).

Visa Processing Time
On average, USCIS processes Business Visa (B1) work permit petitions in around three months (90 days).

How to Apply
Non-citizens from certain nations requesting a Business Visa (B1) may be eligible to come to The United States without it.

If you have another lawful non-immigrant status in the United States, you may be able to shift to B1 status. Fill out Form I-539, Application to Extend/Alter Nonimmigrant Status, to change your status to B1.
