Diversity Visa Program US

About

The Diversity Visa (DV) Program is also recognized as a Green card lottery. The reason for this is that applying for a US Green Card is like entering a lottery because there is a chance that you will be chosen at random.

Up to 50,000 immigrant visas may be awarded annually under the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (DV Program), which is based on a random selection of all applicants from nations with low rates of migration to the United States. The U.S. Department of State (DOS) oversees the DV Program.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible,

  • You must be a citizen of one of the permitted nations.
  • You must be a high school graduate and possess a diploma, or
  • According to the US Department of Labor (DOL) regulations, you must have at least two years of work experience in the last five years in a profession that belongs to Work Zones 4 or 5.

There is a certain time of year each year when applications are accepted for the Diversity Visa. The visa processing is finished in the following two years. Hence, if you apply during the 2020 application window, you are applying to obtain the visa and relocate to the US in 2022.

Visa Processing Time
If chosen, you must fulfil all conditions for the Green Card application procedure. After completing this stage, you must wait while the American Embassy examines your visa application. It will take around two years to complete the procedure from the original lottery to immigration.

How to Apply
The following steps can be helpful while applying for this visa,

  • Submit a thoroughly filled visa application form.
  • Attach all the required documents and pay the visa fee.
  • Attend the visa interview if needed.
