The University of Colorado Boulder is one of four and the flagship campus of the University of Colorado system. Founded in 1876, it is a leading public research university and a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU). It is classified as an R1: Doctoral Universities - Very high research activity due to several extensive research programs.

It is a leading institute in America with an endowment of $2.13 billion and research funds reaching $634 million in 2021. The institute is divided into nine colleges and schools and offers over 150 programs. There are also over 3,600 courses available in various disciplines.

The university has produced 5 Nobel Laureates and 10 Pulitzer Prize winners. There are also 20 astronauts among the many other distinguished alumni. The research and achievements had led to the university being called a Public Ivy.

It is spread across 786 acres with several research facilities and other buildings like Nolin Library, Macky Auditorium and Mary Rippon Theatre.

Students

There are currently 37,956 students enrolled at the university, with 30,936 being undergraduates and 7,020 enrolled in postgraduate programs.

The university also offers several scholarships, including the Charles and Mildred Nilon Teacher Education Fund and the Lucile Berkeley Buchanan Scholarship

They also announced that the university would invest $25 million in diversity programs in May 2021. This initiative aims to improve recruitment, retention and support for faculty and students from under-represented sectors of the community.

This university leads in sports and has produced 10 Olympic medallists. Their athletics team, the Buffaloes, have won over 28 championships, with 20 being in skiing. Students also have multiple other campus organisations, including a student government.

Their alumni network has over 300,000 members and is called Forever Buffs. There is also a school spirit promoting campus club called The Herd, which is run by alumni but is open to presently enrolled students.

Accommodations

There are a total of 24 on and off-campus residence halls. These living areas range from single rooms to those that house four people. Others come with apartment-style facilities, with residences spread across the campus.

There is also a facility in Williams Village, which is around 1.5 miles away from the main campus. A bus service transports students to and from the residential hall free of cost.

The university also offers Residential Academic Programs (RAPS) for tailored learning in different areas.
