The University of Miami (or UM, Miami, U of M, UMiami, The U) is a private research university in Coral Gables, Florida, in the United States. It offers almost 350 academic majors and programmes across 12 colleges and schools. 

The University of Miami provides 67 doctorates, 140 master's, and 138 undergraduate degree programmes. UMiami has a total of 3,379 academic staff. 

UM is one of the "Doctoral Universities: Very High Research Activity" in the United States. The institution spent $375 million on sponsored programmes and research in 2021, placing it 71st out of all universities in the US.

UMiami has many notable alumni. It includes four Nobel Prize recipients, a former US ambassador to the United NationsPeter Burleigh and many more from various fields.

Students

The university has a total of 19,096 students. Out of which 12,089 are undergraduates, and 7,007 are postgraduates. The university has had students from all 50 states and 173 other nations since its foundation in 1925. 

A total of 2,782 international students, and 1,691 undergraduates, are enrolled at the University of Miami. According to UMiami, the percentage of international students is roughly 16.1%.

Accommodation

A total of 5,415 students are enrolled at the University of Miami's main campus in Coral Gables. This group is disproportionately first-year students (89 per cent of new freshmen live on campus compared with 39 per cent of all degree undergraduates).

The university's on-campus accommodation comprises five residential colleges and one apartment-style neighbourhood reserved only for undergraduate degree-seeking students. Two residence halls with dorm-style accommodations and three residence halls with suite-style housing make up the residential colleges.
