Foreigners who want to invest in the South African economy by starting a new business or investing in an existing one must apply for a Business Visa. You need to invest a specified amount of financial capital as an applicant.

The South Africa Business Visa allows citizens to work or invest in the South African economy for a maximum of 90 days.

A BI-1738 Form must be completed to invest or start a business. Investors must also contribute a certain amount of financial capital commitment.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must;

  • be applying for business purposes.
  • provide an investment of a certain amount.

Documents

You must provide the following documents.

  • At least a sum of money to be invested in the Republic, as determined by the Minister in consultation and with the Minister of Trade and Industry from time to time.
  • There is at least a sum in cash and a capital contribution available, as determined by the Minister from time to time. 
  • An undertaking by the applicant that 60% of the total staff complement to be hired in the operations will be South African citizens or permanent residents, working at various positions on a full-time basis. 
  • A certificate of police clearance from each country in which you have lived since the age of 18, including the Republic of South Africa. 
  • A certificate of yellow fever vaccination if you have travelled through a yellow fever endemic area or intend to travel through one.
