If your goal is to relocate to Finland and start a business, you should apply for an Entrepreneur Residence permit. 

Entrepreneurs typically need to register one's businesses in the Trade Register kept by the Finnish Patent and Registration Office before a permit can be issued.

Eligibility

You are eligible for this visa if you are;

  • general partnership's partner. 
  • private business owner who operates what is referred to as a sole proprietorship (toiminimi). 
  • limited partnership's general partner (not silent partner). 
  • a cooperative member who is personally liable for any refinancing. A trade register entry must be made for the limitless obligation to contribute.

Documents

Collect the following documents before beginning the application process.

  • Professional qualification certificates. 
  • Document pertaining to a business location. 
  • An excerpt from the trade register or an explanation of the company's exclusion from the trade register. 
  • Give an account of the personnel. 
  • An explanation of the company's business concept.

The electronic application fee for the first permit is 490 EUR, while the extended permit fee is 160 EUR.
Meanwhile, the paper application fee for the first permit is 690 EUR, while an extended permit is 430 EUR.

Extension

If your first resident permit is about to expire, you may apply for an extended residence permit. After four years, you can also apply for permanent residence.
