About

You require a residence permit based on family ties if you have a family member who resides in Finland and you want to move in with them. You are only permitted to visit Finland and stay there for up to 90 days without a residence permit. 

The term "sponsor" refers to a member of your family who resides in Finland. A residence permit cannot be applied for on your behalf by the sponsor. You must complete it on your own.

Eligibility

The following foreign nationals and family members of Finnish citizens are qualified for this visa.

Documents

Provide the following documents while applying for a permit to move to family members in Finland.

  • Identity documents
  • Proof of your relationship with a Finish citizen
  • Health insurance, if needed.
  • Character certificate.

Process

Fill out an application for a residence permit that is appropriate for your circumstances. Send your application in paper form or electronically by entering Finland. You must self-submit the application. A residence permit cannot be applied for on your behalf by the sponsor. The sponsor must, however, add to your application.
