About

Short-term or partial assignments performed in Belgium by non-Belgian employers, independent contractors, or workers must be disclosed in advance. 

This "Limosa" statement is necessary for: 

  • Apprentices and employees who travel to Belgium for specific temporary or partial employment are not covered by the Belgian social security system due to the nature of their short-term assignment. 
  • Independent contractors and self-employed apprentices, regardless of whether they are covered by the Belgian social security system, who come to work in Belgium on a temporary or part-time basis.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must;

  • be above 18.
  • have a proper business plan.

Documents

You are required to submit the following documents.

  • A valid national passport (validity 15 months)
  • Language form (in French, Dutch or German)
  • Three recent passport-size photographs
  • An original nationwide criminal history record
  • The medical certificate
  • Documentation of dependents, if any.

Process

Before the embassy grants a visa D, the professional card must be approved by the appropriate authorities in Belgium. This application is made through the Embassy or Consulate-General.

Visa Processing Time
The visa may take more than a month to process. So, you should be patient and apply accordingly.

How to Apply
Applicants are welcome to verify if an in-person appointment is available using our online appointment system.

To avoid having your documents returned, please send your application to the consular office with jurisdiction over the state where you presently reside. Professional card applications are filed together with the visa application and are then forwarded to the concerned regional government for decision.

This visa costs 100+ EUR. You also have to pay extra for the dependents, which can cost 234 USD per applicant.

Extension

The visa can be renewed before it expires. Moreover, it can also lead to permanent residence eventually.
