Permanent Residence Permit Chile

About

Foreign citizens with a valid temporary resident visa are awarded the permanent residency, which allows them to stay in Chile indefinitely and engage in any legitimate business. You will not need a visa renewal for your permanent residency after you have obtained it.

Eligibility

To qualify for permanent residency, you must satisfy one of the three conditions listed below.

  • You have a two-year "subject to contract" work visa.
  • You hold a one-year temporary resident visa.
  • You've been on a student visa for two years and finished your professional or secondary education.

Documents

You must provide the following documents.

  • Identity documents, including passport.
  • Proof that you have lived on a one-year-long temporary visa.
  • A character certificate.
  • A medical certificate.
  • Provide a criminal record from your home country.

Process

First, you need to obtain a "clave nica," a one-time password that allows you to safely and easily access all state services. You can request it at any Civil Register office or through ChileAtiende, the state's multi-service platform.

Visa Processing Time
The visa can take a couple of months or even more in some cases. So, you are required to consider this time while applying for permanent residency.

How to Apply
Apply for permanent residency using your unique key on the internet platform. Be sure you have all of the essential documents. The more information you provide, the sooner your application will be completed. You will need to consult other government agencies and the Chilean consulate in your home country, and each body has its own deadlines.
