After obtaining a Temporary Residence Visa for eight years, you may apply for a Permanent Resident Permit in Denmark. In some cases, the requirement is four years. For that, you need to meet certain requirements.

When to Apply
A Permanent Residency Visa application can be made at any time. You do not need to wait until your residence permit is about to expire. However, you must submit your application before your current residence permit expires.
Instead of applying for a Permanent Residence Permit if you don't meet all the requirements, you can request an extension of your current residence permit. If you apply for an extension, you can apply three months before the date your current residence permit expires.
Visa Processing Time
The expected maximum processing time to avail permanent residence is 10 months.

The application form includes detailed instructions for filling it in and which types of documentation you need to enclose. The application process may differ depending on the reason you are applying. The application is only available in Danish.
Duration
You can stay in the country indefinitely.
Fees
The visa fee for work or study is 6,745 DKK. But if you are applying for other reasons, it may cost 4,820 DKK.
The visa is valid for an indefinite time, so there is no need to apply for an extension. But you may look for citizenship once you have permanent residence.
Work
This visa allows you to work in Denmark.
Family
A Permanent Residence Permit is also allotted for family reunification.

You may use this visa to study.
