You need to apply for a short-term visa if you want to travel to Denmark for up to 90 days on a personal or tourist visit.

Generally, suppose the authorities determine that you will certainly comply with the terms of your visa and that you will return home before it expires. In that case, they will grant you a visa. 

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must be:

  • legally allowed in the country.
  • able to pay your finances during your stay.

Documents

You must fulfil the following conditions to be granted a visa.

  • The validity of your passport or other acceptable travel documents must extend three months past the expiration date of your visa.
  • Your travel document, such as a passport, must be less than ten years old.
  • You must be able to afford both your stay and your return trip. Depending on duration of your stay and whether you'll be staying with friends, family, or a hotel, the Danish diplomatic mission will decide what will be deemed necessary funds.
  • Should have travel insurance to cover potential costs in the event of a return due to illness or death, necessary medical care, or an acute hospitalisation during your stay.
  • Undesirable status is not recorded in the Schengen Information System (SIS II).
  • Possibly not expelled from Denmark and barred from entering.
  • Not necessarily included in UN or EU sanction lists. 
  • may not be included on the national sanction list of "religious preacher" whose entry is prohibited.

Process

When to Apply
Before you choose to apply for this visa, make sure you have all the necessary paperwork. Apart from the documents mentioned above, the diplomatic mission may request further documentation, multiple passport photos or copies of the application. Therefore, you should check the mission's website to find out which documentation is required when submitting a visa application.

Visa Processing Time
The visa is usually processed within 15 days. But in some rare cases, it can even take longer, up to several months.

Your application can be submitted to the nation where you currently reside. If you are legally present in that country and have a good reason for not applying, you may do so elsewhere.

Duration & Fees

Duration
A visa is typically valid for the entire Schengen area. It allows you to stay in Denmark for at least 90 days in a 180-day period. 

A penalty period of three or five years may be imposed on you if you stay in Denmark after the expiration of your visa. Or if you try to use your visa to stay to obtain long-term or permanent residency in Denmark. You may not be able to obtain a visa to visit Denmark during the penalty period.

Fees
Normally you have to pay a fee in order to submit an application. The visa fee is normally 80 EUR; for children aged six years and below 12, it is 40 EUR.

Extension

If new facts have emerged since the visa was issued, a Denmark short-stay visa may be extended. Force majeure, humanitarian grounds, or important occupational or personal reasons must all be demonstrated in order to extend a visa.
