Short Business Visit Visa Denmark

About

If you are a citizen of a country that requires a visa and want to travel to Denmark for a brief period, you must have a visa.

A visa can be obtained with a visit to Denmark for business. You won't be given a business visa if your work permit has restrictions. It may be the case if you are an employee of a foreign sister company or subsidiary of a Danish company in Denmark on business or if you are a trainee receiving compensation while in Denmark. If this applies to you, you should apply for a work permit rather than a business visa.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must;

  • have a business to attend to in the country.
  • not be listed in the Schengen Information System (SIS II) as undesirable.
  • not be expelled from Denmark and given a visa ban.
  • your name is not on any EU or UN sanction lists.
  • not be on the national sanction list of clerics who are prohibited from entering.

Documents

The following requirements must be met to be granted a visa.

  • The validity of your passport or other travel documents must extend three months past the expiration date of your visa.
  • Your travel document, such as a passport, must be less than ten years old.
  • You must be able to afford both your stay and your return trip.
  • Travel insurance must cover potential costs associated with a return due to illness or death, necessary medical care, or an acute hospitalisation during your trip.

Process

The Immigration Service recommends that the company in Denmark fills in an invitation form provided on paper or online, but it is not a requirement.

If the company has been given prior approval, an online invitation form VF2 must be used. To benefit from the previous approval arrangement, you must inform the diplomatic mission when submitting your application that a prior approved company has invited you. Otherwise, you risk that the application is processed according to the ordinary procedure.

When to Apply
You should have a clear-cut idea about the visa processing time. Thus, you can apply accordingly. But we recommend you apply a couple of months before you have to move.

Visa Processing Time
The visa is usually processed within 15 days. But in some rare cases, it can even take longer, up to several months.

How to Apply
Your application can be submitted in the country where you currently reside. If you are legally present in that country and have a good reason for not applying, you may do so elsewhere.

The list refers to Danish missions with which Denmark has a shared representation agreement, such as those in Norway and Sweden if there are no Danish missions or outsourcing offices in the nation where you currently reside. The list refers to the closest Danish mission or outsourcing office in the area if there is no representation agreement.

Duration & Fees

Duration
This visa is typically valid for the entire Schengen area. It allows you to stay in Denmark for 90 days in any 180 days period.

If you try to use your visa stay to acquire long-term or permanent residency in Denmark, or if you stay in Denmark after your visa expires, you could face a 3 or 5-year penalty period. In the penalty period, you will generally not be able to get a visa to visit Denmark.

Fees
You are required to pay a fee to apply. Ordinarily, a visa costs 80 EUR, with a 40 EUR reduction for children under the age of 12 years. Furthermore, the outsourcing company (VAC) must pay a service fee.

Extension

If the need arises, you can apply for an extension of your visa. But you should apply at least a month before your visa expires.
