Student Visa Sweden

ABOUT

The number of international students in Sweden is steadily increasing. Even though the country is among the most costly study destinations, international students have recently increased.

Swedish universities attract international students because of their world-class academic standards, preparing them for exciting career options after graduation.

To study in higher education in Sweden, apply for a residence permit if you plan to study at a university, college, university, or folk high school at the post-secondary level or higher vocational education for more than three months. Before travelling to Sweden, you must obtain a permit.

The Student Visa in Sweden is called a “resident permit for studies”. If your programme is less than three months long, you’ll need to apply for a short-stay visa.

If your programme is longer than six months, the visa you’re eligible for is the long-stay visa type D.

Citizens of some countries may stay in Sweden for up to three months without a residence permit or visa. During this period, they are allowed to study.
